Corporate Culture

On the evening of September 13, 2018, colleagues of Shanghai Chinllenge Gases Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “SCGC”) gathered together from all over the country and overseas to participate in the annual SCGC charity bazaar dinner party.

SCGC was established in 2001 and headquartered in Shanghai, China. The company’s investors include gas industry elites and international investment funds. The top management team and engineering technical personnel have rich experience in international gas industry.

SCGC is a professional gases company specializing in production and services of gases supply. It is a high-tech enterprise integrating R&D, production, sales and services. The company adheres to the core value of “Integrity and Excellence” and breaks through the traditional gases operation and management model. It is the only Chinese industrial gases company with a global remote monitoring center which manages and operates more than 20 factories in 16 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across the country and 30 factories overseas, serving customers in electronics, metal processing, shipbuilding, photovoltaics, new energy batteries, fiberglass, glass manufacturing, new materials, food processing and other fields.

SCGC has been striving to fulfill the vision of benefiting society since establishment. As a big family of society, in addition to participating in the social economic operation and creating wealth, enterprises also need to devote to family and country. They must not only have the willingness for charity but also the ability to do charity, just like employees of SCGC who have the same values for charity and willingness to extend our own hands to help those who need help.

Since ancient times, the Chinese nation has cultivated the traditional virtue of being kind-hearted. SCGC has a willingness for charity from shareholders to employees. In 2009, SCGC established SCGC Charity Fund. For nearly a decade, we insisted on doing something within our power containing donations from employees and shareholders. The annual SCGC Charity Bazaar is the main source of SCGC Charity Fund. The 9th SCGC Charity Bazaar is also a special one - for Shanghai Guangci Disabled Children’s Charity House (hereinafter referred to as Guangci Charity House). Guangci Charity House is the only private children’s welfare institution in Shanghai. It is located at No. 404, Qigu Village, Si Tuan Town, Fengxian District. Sun Jinyao, the founder of Guangci Charity House, was born in Canada. He inherited his mother’s last wish and returned to his mother’s hometown, Shanghai, with his own funds to establish disabled children’s charity house. For more than 20 years, Dean Sun and his family have adopted more than 200 disabled children who have been abandoned because of autism, cerebral palsy, surdimutism, paralysis, Down syndrome, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. In addition to giving them a stable life, Dean Sun also needs to bear the high medical expenses of the children. In less than 20 years, Dean Sun’s self-raised 25 million yuan has been all spent on these children.

Two years ago, we became attached to Guangci Charity House by accident. We saw more than 40 children with different levels of disabilities. We felt very distressed but were deeply touched by the spirit and behavior of Dean Sun’s long-term selflessness and devotion. Therefore, our hard-working volunteers visited the charity house on a regular basis and noticed the staff of Guangci Charity House wash clothes and diapers in the cold water of winter with hands full of frostbite. As a result, we donated three highpower water heaters for the charity house so that the children can take a bath and nurses can cook with hot water. Apart from material help, we also hope to help the children in our unique way. It is said that companionship is the most long-lasting confession. These angels with broken wings, like normal children, need to be cared and accompanied frequently. Thus, we always accompany them to talk, read, write, make dumplings and snacks. Due to their physical and intellectual situations, they usually only spend most of their time in the yard. In order to give them a chance to “tour around”, we usually organize groups with adults and children to go to the park, play games, take small trains, fly kites, and hope that such companionship and love will bring happiness to them. Some people may say that it is better to donate more money directly, but SCGC insists on caring for them in our own way. We hope that as time goes on, the children can remember us like friends. When they grow up, they must also integrate into society. We wish that the warmth that our love brings to them will give them confidence and faith in society and future life.

In order to better help Dean Sun and the children, we launched the company’s strength, planned and organized this charity bazaar. In addition to the employees of SCGC, we sincerely invited external caring people to participate in the event, and got support from Shanghai Pudong New Area Corporate Social Responsibility Office, People’s Government of Huinan Town in Pudong New Area, where SCGC headquarters was registered, and the wholly-owned subsidiary Anhui SCGC Gases Co., Ltd. registered in Fengyang County People’s Government of Anhui Province and Shanghai Pudong New Area Contract Promotion Association. Many external leaders participated in the charity bazaar.

The charity bazaar received a total of 40 auctions from SCGC employees, external guests and Guangci Charity House, including special products from home and abroad, special commemorative items, novel electronic products, and beautiful handcrafts made by children from Guangci. After the host opened the evening, Dean Sun Jinyao delivered a speech. The guests were deeply moved by his story of Guangci and the long-lasting journey for the charity house. Two healthy children of Guangci Charity House sang “Invisible Wings” on the stage. The sound of clear and beautiful songs had no difference from other normal children. Despite their physical defects, they still won’t stop their longing for a better life. Although they were born unfortunately, they were fortunate enough to gain the help from Dean Sun and many good people in the society. After the song, nearly 80 people who participated in the event, while tasting the children’s hand-made Cantonese-style moon cakes, continued to raise placards in the shouting of non-professional auctioneers played by employees and external guests. The auctions were snapped up one after another, and everyone was generous, especially the hand-made paintings made by the children of Guangci Charity House caused the auction climax. After nearly two hours of auctions, the total amount of 28,336 yuan, obtained from 40 auctions, were all donated to Guangci Charity House. We genuinely hope that our love can bring warmth to the children. After the event, we said goodbye to Dean Sun and the children and wish that they will grow up happily in Guangci Charity House.

Charity is not only an activity or a slogan, but a long-term practice. Looking back on the charity activities of SCGC for many years, we have done very limited, but we believe that gathering a little bit of power will give more unfortunate people a sky of love. We love to spread the happiness for every family, let us join hands and work together with love!
